Playing for Manchester United this season may have left a rather bitter taste in Ryan Giggs' mouth, but dining in his new restaurant alongside some old pals would surely have helped with that.
The 40-year-old United legend is enduring a tough start to life as a player-coach at Old Trafford as David Moyes' side struggle to adjust to life without Sir Alex Ferguson.
The penalty shootout defeat against Sunderland in Wednesday's Capital One Cup semi-final was just the latest embarrassment for Moyes, but Giggs put that behind him the following day with the grand opening of his new Manchester eatery.
Giggs was joined by fellow members of United's famous Class of 92, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt, as well as some showbiz friends at George's Dining Room and Bar in Worsley, Salford.
Fellow United legend Bryan Robson was seen enjoying the party, as well as a man better known for his time as player and manager on the blue half of the City, Peter Reid.
Coronation Street actors Jack P Shepherd, Andrew Whyment and Alan Halsall, who play David Platt, Kirk Sutherland and Tyrone Dobbs respectively, also turned up for a bite to eat.
And Happy Mondays singer Rowetta, who was more than happy to share a few pictures of the big night, was also in attendance along with former Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam.
Given United's struggles, talking football was probably off the menu, but Giggs' favourite recipe at the restaurant is apparently the chicken liver parfait starter.
But the Premier League's most decorated player joked that he isn't able to sample too many of the puddings until he hangs up his boots for good.
'I've not tasted too many of the desserts,' Giggs told the Manchester Evening News. 'I do have to be careful, but a little treat once a week isn't a problem.'
Giggs co-owns the restaurant with two old school pals, Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor.
'We're all local lads and have lived in this area all our lives so we wanted to do something in Worsley and we think we've got a really different offering for the area,' Giggs said.
'We think it's great for the area, we can all bounce off each other and it all makes Worsley a bit of a foodie destination.'
