Flush Chelsea will end up paying £20m for Salah to stave off Liverpool interest

Chelsea’s pursuit of Basle winger Mohamed Salah will end up costing the club £20million — a sizeable chunk of the money they will receive from Juan Mata’s sale to Manchester United.
Liverpool increased their offer for Salah to £18.5m late last week when they became aware of Chelsea’s interest, with £13.5m due to be paid as an straight down-payment and £5m in bonuses.
But Chelsea, flush with £37m from agreeing to sell Mata to United, were able to gazump the Merseysiders again, in similar circumstances to snatching Willian from Tottenham in the last transfer window.

Mourinho has stated that the signing of Salah will be his final piece of business during the January transfer window, which has also seen the arrivals of Nemanja Matic and youngster Bertrand Traore.
'We would only have done Nemanja this window if we hadn't lost a player (Mata), but we are trying to keep the level and improve, to improve the team, to improve the squad, to change the style of play.
'And we're still trying to get results and still trying to win matches.

'We need that mixture of young players growing up and experienced players giving stability to the team.
'We are doing that. You can see what we're trying to do. Nemanja is 26, Salah 21, so we are trying to build a team for the future.
