- Bieber flew to Toronto after pleading not guilty on DUI charges in Florida to address possible assault charges from December
- On December 30, an altercation reportedly occurred between someone in Bieber's entourage and a limo driver who picked them up from a Toronto night club
- Reports at the time were unclear whether Bieber himself was involved but he apparently turned himself in to Toronto authorities on Wednesday night
- According to U.S. federal law, committing an act of assault can potentially be a deportable offense for a foreign national like Bieber, who is Canadian
Justin Bieber has only just pleaded not guilty to DUI charges in Miami, but now also faces charges of criminal assault for a December incident involving a Canada limo driver.
Bieber was charged on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a December 30 altercation with a driver who picked up the pop star and his entourage from a Toronto nightclub.
The charge is yet another in a string of recent run-ins with the law, but if Bieber is convicted of assault, federal law allows that the 19-year-old Canadian could very well be deported and banned from working in the United States.

Book em' and cook em': Justin Bieber arrives at the 52 Division of the Toronto police department to face charges he assaulted a limo driver in December
Not again: It is the latest in a string of charges against Biebs. Earlier this month his home was searched after neighbors complained of a $20,000 eggs fight and last week he got a DUI charge while allegedly drag racing in Miami
If I can't see them...: Beiber looked less than penitent as he made his way inside to be charge with assault Wednesday
It was initially reported that a member of singer's crew was being investigated. Now, the investigation has taken a turn straight toward the Biebs himself on the very same day he denied he was drunk behind the wheel of a Lamborghini in Florida last week.
On Wednesday evening, reports of Bieber's impending arrival to the Toronto Police station had a crowd gathered eagerly outside the doors
Screams rang out through the Toronto streets when he finally did arrive, flanked by an army of police as little girls and adults alike yelled out his name.
Beiber emerged in a ball cap and winter coat, fresh off a plain from Florida, and quickly made for the station.
'You don't have to push!': A small army of yellow-clad police officers charged through a group of reporters in order to help Bieber into the station. One reporter yelled angrily after the door to the station shut

Whodunnit: The charge stems from a December incident involving a limousine driver. Initially, reports suggested it was a member of Bieber's entourage who assaulted the driver
Doh! Bieber winces (or is that a smile?) as he's led into a back room at the Toronto police station
Beleaguered Biebs: Reporters and Beliebers alike positioned themselves outside the 52 Division building in Toronto to catch a glimpse of the beleaguered Biebs
Judgement? Braun also asked that non-Beliebers leave the singer's parents--both of whom were at the wrong end of finger pointing following his DUI arrest last week--alone
One reporter screamed, 'You don't have to push!' after the police ushering the 19-year-old knocked several among the throng of journalists out of the way.
Footage from inside the station showed Bieber ringed by yellow-clad officers as, presumably, he was read his rights.
Representatives for Justin Bieber released the following statement on Wednesday evening:
'The Toronto Police Service requested that Justin Bieber appear in Toronto today to face an allegation of assault relating to an incident on December 29, 2013.
'We anticipate that this matter will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States.
'Our position is the Mr. Bieber is innocent. As the matter is now before the Court, it would be inappropriate to address the specifics of either the allegation or of our defense at this time.'
Toronto police released a statement late Wednesday:
'The man who struck him left the scene before police arrived. On Wednesday, January 29, 2014, Justin Bieber, 19, of Calabasas, California, surrendered to police at 52 Division. He is facing the following charge: assault.'
According to the statement, the assailant fled the scene after the driver called police.
Bieber was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, March 10, 2014, 11 am
More money, more problems: Justin Bieber pleaded not guilty Wednesday to driving drunk in Miami last week before jetting off to Toronto to face the music on charges he assaulted a limo driver in December
Controversy magnet: The star was accused of drag racing his yellow Lamborghini alongside a red Ferrari belonging to his friend Khalil
Meeting the judge: Justin Bieber faced a judge via video last week in Miami, Florida following his DUI arrest after a drag race hours earlier
Loving it? The cover boy seemed proud of his arrest as he let everyone take a good look at him. But are his bad boy ways now catching up to him?
Police were originally called to the incident on December 29 after Bieber had been to a Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey game, a team he's known to love to support.
At the time police said they were investigating an assault allegation, but it was unclear whether the allegation was against Bieber himself or a member of his entourage.
'The driver for the limo is making allegations,' Constable Victor Kwong said just after the incident. 'We don't know how many were in the limo at this time and we are still working on the investigation.'
The latest setback for the Boyfriend singer comes after he was arrested in Miami last week and charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest.
Bad company? Lil Za (L) was arrested for drug possession at Justin Bieber's home, where he has been living with Bieber and Lil Twist (R), after police raided the house following allegations of an egg throwing incident
Bieber pal? Khalil, a rapper on Def Jam Records, also had his mug shot taken after allegedly drag racing with Bieber
'LONG STORY SHORT': BIEBER PAL, R&B ARTIST AND FILMMAKER KHALIL SHARIEF
Spotted: Khalil Amir Sharief leaves a Miami hotel where he was hanging out with Bieber and company January 24
Police arrested the pop star as he drove a bright yellow Lamborghini at up to 60mph in a 30mph speed limit zone while allegedly racing Def Jam rapper Khalil Sharief who was driving a Ferrari.
While the R&B star flunked his field sobriety test, reports emerged Tuesday that the 19-year-old Def Jam Records singer blew a blood alcohol level of zero at the time of his arrest.
Police at the time said Sharief had 'droopy eyes' and a 'dazed expression' and it has been widely reported that Bieber may have been under the influence of prescription drugs when he was arrested after 'drag racing' at 4am in Miami on January 23.
Both he and Bieber volunteered a urine sample.
Khalil signed with Def Jam in 2008 and has been featured in songs by fellow Bieber pal Lil Twist on the mixtape The Golden Child.
His latest single Stars debuted on June 20 and he's even got a film under his belt called Khalil: A Long Story Short.
'I'm not to much of a wild guy,' he says in the film. 'I'm all about work.'

The star was accused of drag racing his yellow Lamborghini alongside a red Ferrari belonging to his friend Khalil.
Bieber will be formally charged for the Miami incident on Valentine’s Day after he was released on $2,500 bail.
The Toronto charge, paired with the Miami DUI charge, has many wondering if Bieber, who is Canadian, will lose his American work Visa.
In fact, some fed up Americans weren't waiting around to find out.
By Wednesday, over 100,000 people have signed an official We The People petition asking the White House to deport Justin Bieber back to Canada after his Thursday DUI arrest in Miami, Florida.
The government promises to review a petition once it receives more than 100,000 signatures in 30 days. The Baby singer got that amount in only six days.
The petition starts, 'We the people of the United States … would like to see the dangerous, destructive, and drug abusing Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked.'
It also states: 'He is not only threatening the safety of our people, but he is also a terrible influence on our nation’s youth.
Bad girl: Jeffries in her high school yearbook and her mugshot after being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in 2011. Charges were eventually dropped with Jeffries agreeing to pay court costs
Spotlight: Jeffries was thrust into the public eye after Justin Bieber was arrested for drag racing while she was in a Lamborghini with him in Florida last week. She joined him on a break in Panama, above
Aftermath: Monica Crout shows off her injuries after the alleged fight with Jeffries
'We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.'
According to U.S. federal law, a person who has committed a violent act may be considered 'deportable' whether that crime was under U.S. or foreign law.
That means that if the Biebs is in fact prosecuted, under certain circumstances he could lose the privilege of entering and working in the United States.
But that was the furthest thing from Bieber’s mind when he left the country to go goofing around on the beach in Panama on Monday.
After he was booked for alleged DUI and drag racing in Miami last week, the pop star fled to the holiday destination.
The 19-year-old appeared to have not a care in the world as he relaxed on the sand with Chantel Jeffries, the model he was with at the time of his arrest.
Bieber's new ‘girlfriend’ has had her own run-ins with the law.
It's official: The We The People page on the White House's website had 101,203 signatures as of Wednesday morning
Is he a Belieber?: President Obama - who welcomed the singer to his home in 2010 - has been asked to take notice of the petition
Jeffries allegedly tried to plunge a knife into a teenage rival at least five times after an argument on Facebook, MailOnline revealed today.
Bad girl Jeffries – who was with the Baby star when he was arrested in Miami last week and then accompanied him on his break in Panama – first threatened to ‘beat the s**t out of’ her former best friend on Facebook, according to a police report.
Then she allegedly drove round to a family home in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where she thought the girl was hanging out.
Her target wasn’t there but she attacked another 18-year-old, stabbing her terrified victim in the forearm, leaving her with horrible wounds, according to witnesses.
They claim she only stopped slashing the girl when another friend – Tia Renzullia - jumped in and fought her off. They say Jeffries then fled the scene leaving victim Monica Crout covered in blood.
Bieber remains under investigation for felony vandalism in Los Angeles County over an egg-tossing episode that damaged his neighbor's home. Detectives searched his home on Jan. 14, and prosecutors have sought additional information before determining whether to pursue charges.
Crack: Around 20 eggs were apparently thrown in the alleged attack on Bieber's neighbor's home in Calabasas causing a reported $20,000 in damages
In trouble with the law: Justin has not commented on the egg throwing scandal
Arrest: Lil Za was arrested on Tuesday morning for 'drug possession' after police raided his friend Justin Bieber's mansion in connection with an egg attack on the singer's neighbour
The cases have overshadowed the recent release of his latest album. Its reception has been far from the chart-topping success Bieber had after he debuted in 2009, with multiple platinum albums.
Last year, Bieber made headlines for everything from clashing with a paparazzo to fainting at a show to being photographed smoking marijuana. The paparazzo is suing Bieber for assault and battery.
German authorities charged him thousands of dollars after he abandoned a pet monkey that they seized from him for failing to have proper vaccination papers.
The singer also had to apologize to Bill Clinton after cursing the former president and spraying his photo with cleaning fluid in a New York City restaurant kitchen.
Bieber was discovered through a YouTube video of him performing, and his career has been guided by a pair of music industry heavyweights, singer Usher and manager Scooter Braun. He has been nominated for two Grammy Awards for his 2010 full-length album debut My World 2.0, but his popularity has waned.
Braun tweeted Wednesday evening, 'i ask people to be kind and hope for the best in people. not assume the worst. Thanks.
