25min - Shellshocked Arsenal trying to respond
Remarkable... Liverpool have gone over five minutes without scoring. Arsenal try to create something as Mesut Ozil swings in a free-kick from the right. It's easily caught by Mignolet under no pressure whatsoever.
GOAL! Liverpool 4 (Sturridge 20') Arsenal 0
And another! Wenger just stands still this time - he looks pale. A class through ball from near the half-way line by Coutinho split the Arsenal defence and Sturridge is running through to provide a clinical finish. 4-0. Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny looked so slow there up against Sturridge.
GOAL! Liverpool 3 (Sterling 17') Arsenal 0
I said they were rampant... Another break, with Arsenal leaving acres of space for Jordan Henderson to exploit, a cross from the right-hand side by Luis Suarez is turned in by Raheem Sterling at the back stick. They were queuing up. If Sterling hadn't scored, Sturridge was there to turn it in.
Arsene Wenger furious on the sidelines, he thinks Henderson pushed Mesut Ozil over in the build-up.
13min - Suarez hits the post with a thunderbolt!
That would have been the goal of the season right there! Another corner, half-cleared and drops to Luis Suarez on the edge of the box. He has his back to goal but twists and gets off a magnificent strike that cannons back off the post. I think it's still shaking now. Kolo Toure was unable to convert the rebound, knocking the ball wide.
Liverpool are absolutely rampant here, it's similar to the 4-0 win over Everton the other week.
12min - Sturridge nearly adds a third
Liverpool continue to pour forward and Arsenal are on the ropes. Gerrard finds Coutinho on the break and he plays a lovely through ball to Sturridge, who beats the offside trap. He attempt to chip Szczesny but it drops wide of the goal.
GOAL! Liverpool 2 (Skrtel 10') Arsenal 0
It's another for Liverpool and the same combination! Szczesny saved from Jon Flanagan's effort, conceding a corner and, from another superb Gerrard delivery, Skrtel stoops to send a looping header into the net. You could argue Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the post should have jumped a bit higher and stopped that, but Brendan Rodgers won't care one jot. Perfect start for the home side.
7min - Mignolet nearly caught out
Arsenal close to an equaliser. A beautiful ball over the top of the Liverpool defence by Jack Wilshere and Simon Mignolet rushes out to beat Olivier Giroud to it. But instead of catching the ball, he punches it against Jon Flanagan and it bounces back towards the unguarded goal. Martin Skrtel hacks the ball away for a corner, which is cleared.
4min - Sturridge tests Szczesny from distance
Liverpool have started excellently, buoyed by that early goal and Daniel Sturridge gets on the ball for the first time, cuts in from the right and shoots from 25 yards. The Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny gets down well, diving to his left, to stop it.
GOAL! Liverpool 1 (Skrtel 1') Arsenal 0
What an incredible start! Arsenal concede a free-kick on the left-hand side that is swung in immaculately by Steven Gerrard. It takes the slightest of touches off an Arsenal boot and then is put in by the onrushing Martin Skrtel right in front of the goal about five yards out. Szczesny no chance. The goal timed at just 52 seconds and the Kop choir certainly in full voice now.
KICK-OFF! We're underway at Anfield
Referee Michael Oliver blows his whistle and Arsenal get us started, shooting towards the Kop in the first half.
You'll Never Walk Alone
The world famous Liverpool anthem being belted out as the two sets of players take their place on the pitch. The Kop a flurry of red and white scarves and flags as ever.
A minute's applause will not be held for Tony Hateley, a striker who played for Liverpool in 1967 and 1968, scoring 28 goals in 56 league appearances. He died, aged 72, last Saturday.
Kick-off coming up
Less than 10 minutes until the start and the two sides are lining up in the tunnel, ready to walk out. Arsenal in their yellow change colours today.
Rob Draper at Anfield: Stan Kroenke has travelled across from the USA to watch the game today, in the directors’ box chatting with Ivan Gazidis. Must be a sign of Arsenal's growing optimism.
Phil Duncan: To add to an already intriguing plot, the fixture between the two clubs has thrown up the most hat-tricks in Premier League history. And here, Sportsmail looks back at those five trebles, starting with the quickest hat-trick in the League's history.
